Mineral powder is a component of asphalt concrete , it gives the necessary elasticity by increasing resistance and wear resistance. It gives the ability to deform and as a result improves the quality of roads, increases their service life and saves budgetary money.

 The main purpose of the mineral powder is to transfer bulk bitumen into a thin-film state. Together with bitumen forms a structured mineral powder dispersion system, which serves as a binder in asphaltic concrete. Another purpose of mineral powder in road construction is to fill small pores with larger particles.
Thus, the presence of the required amount of ground limestone enhances the density of the mineral composition, and hence, increase density of ABS.

Due to the large area of the adsorbing surface, the mineral powder absorbs a substantial part of the oil bitumen, giving the asphalt concrete the required characteristics- strength and resistance to deformation. Asphalt concrete containing mineral powder is characterized by high density, strength, corrosion and heat resistance, low water resistance.

An important factor is the reduction in bitumen consumption. The use of mineral powder improves the efficiency of the preparation and laying processes of asphalt concrete; the temperature of the produced mixture in the mixers decreases, the workability of the mixture increases.
Activated Mineral powder MP-1 one of the ways to improve the properties of mineral powders in asphalt concrete mixtures is their physico-chemical activation. Activated mineral powder has the following advantages: hydrophobic, has high «bitumen capacity», which allows to be evenly distributed in bitumen. The use of this product leads to greater density and homogeneity of asphalt concrete, prevents moisture penetration, reduces water saturation of asphalt concrete, which has a positive effect on the age of roads. Particular importance is the possibility of using it in asphalt concrete where clay particles are present. Basic quality indicators of mineral powder: grain composition, humidity and hydrophobicity. Inactivated mineral powder MP-2 is a material obtained by milling carbonate rocks without the addition of activating substances.
